Canoeing as a sport is thought to have been introduced by Brit John MacGregor, after he returned from a trip from Canada and the US in the mid-1800s. Canoeing became an Olympic sport in Berlin in 1936 and has featured in every games since! That’s a lot of canoeing, although we doubt they racked up the mileage of Verlen Kruger.

  • It’s great exercise.

    The whole body is used during canoeing, so it helps exercise your kids muscles all over! Should tire them out nicely for bedtime

  • You can do it at your own pace.

    If your kids fancy a nice, relaxing canoe ride then there’s something for them. There are lots of tranquil spots where they can go at a leisurely pace. If your child is more of an adrenaline junkie, then there is something for them too! Fast currents can take them wherever they want to go.

  • See the interesting aquatic life!

    See the interesting aquatic life! Water is full of really interesting aquatic life, something that the kids will love. Whether it’s fish, bugs or birds, there’s always something for them to see out on the water. Just an added bonus whilst they get to exercise and enjoy their canoeing!
